The Miss India-Canada event is one of the most anticipated and well known in the South Asian community. With nearly 24 years of innovation, the Miss India-Canada organization has continued to transform the annual Gala into a unique evening of glamour and style that allows an affluent South Asian community to come together to celebrate their cultural heritage.

No other event provides a night of entertainment where friends, family and colleagues can come together dressed in their best, to support the community as a whole while celebrating what makes them uniquely Indo-Canadian. Similarly there is no other event that extends the opportunity to sponsors and advertisers to implement marketing initiatives directly to this niche demographic.

The event is regularly graced by top Bollywood and Hollywood personalities, adding a touch of stardust to the evening while bringing in phenomenal media attention. Past years include celebrities like Dev Anand, Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon and Karen David. Aftab Shivdasani stirred up quite a buzz a few summers ago when he helped facilitate in the crowning. International actress, Lisa Ray; UK Bhangra Ambassador, Jassi Sidhu; and Bollywood legend, Anupam Kher were also past celebrities that graced the event.

Our winners strengthen the credibility of the title, and have used it to launch extraordinary careers both in Canada and India. Former winners, such as Kamal Sidhu (1991), Ruby Bhatia (1993), Gita Bali (1994), Rishma Malik (1996), Komila (Kim) Jagtiani (1999), and Neelam Verma (2001) have moved on to become movie actress/model, television star, model, entertainment host for City TV, video jockey and host for the travel show on the Discovery Channel, and the first South Asian to represent Miss Canadian Universe, respectively. Sangeeta Virmani, Miss India-Canada 2003 met the Honourable Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. The reigning Miss India-Canada, Harleen Malhans is currently busy with work and attending noteworthy events.
